COLLAGE WORKSHOPS are available for organizations, home schoolers, or parties. Workshops are 2-3 hours in length and can be conducted remotely or in-person.
IN-PERSON workshops will be held at the location of the host with an adequate working area for participants. The instructor is in the greater Los Angeles area and can travel up to 30 miles to a course location. The lecture portion of the course can be done via PowerPoint but proper visual aids must be provided by the host (projector/screen/etc.). If such amenities are unavailable the instructor can accommodate a more analog approach with handouts.
REMOTE workshops are divided into two sessions: 1) A private YouTube course of instruction and demo 2) A feedback and sharing session on Zoom with the instructor and other participants approximately a week after the course has launched on YouTube for anyone who wishes to contribute.
IN-PERSON WORKSHOP FORMAT: A 10–15-minute presentation about a famous collage artist begins the workshop followed by a 20-minute demo by the instructor. The remaining time is devoted for the participants to construct their collages with the instructor available for assistance. An optional sharing/feedback session with the instructor and class peers will take place the last 20-30 minutes of the workshop.
COST: Remote course are $12 per attendee, in-person are $20 per attendee. No more than 25 participants, no less than 5 participants. FOR REMOTE COURSES materials may be picked up by the host as soon as the YouTube video is launched. The follow up Zoom class will be one week later. Participants will be able contact the instructor via email with any questions prior to the Zoom follow up.
FOR IN-PERSON COURSES ONLY: This course is designed for attendees at least 12 years old. Attendees between the ages of 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult. There must be one adult present for each group of 6 children who will be responsible for behavior and conduct. (This person does not have to pay for the workshop unless they are actively participating and creating).
WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER ARE COMING SOON!
EPHEMERA AND SUBSTRATE (things to cut up and boards to glue them onto) are provided by the instructor as well as cups for water, wax paper, paper towels, rags and paint brushes. For those new to the medium of collage an optional starter kit can be purchased for an additional $30 (includes an Xacto knife, cutting mat, and adhesive). Otherwise, please provide your own adhesive, cutting instruments and cutting board. A material list will be provided upon purchase of the workshop.
CLEAN UP will be the responsibility of the host (though the instructor tries to keep it neat and doesn’t mind assisting afterward!)
TIMES AND DATES are flexible for workshops. Allow at least two weeks for the instructor to schedule and prep.
